Apple School Manager - problems creating new students

Hi, I'm creating new students manually in the Apple School Manager. The first few were working fine, but now it seems when I create new students their passwords are not being generated properly. I try to print the temporary password page but instead of providing a temporary password it's only listing ********. If I try to reset the password I get an error which says ' @@name@@'s password has been reset successfully. '

What on earth is happening? How can I set up a temporary password for new students? Any help would desperately appreciated!
